Interviewing Allison, the founder of Copper Books, sparked a sense of excitement and intrigue. Her path, from inception to where she is today, embodies determination, grit, and a steadfast belief in her vision.

Allison discovered the issue in the publishing industry - traditional publishers make it hard for new and diverse voices to be heard - and set out to create a platform that would make it easier for these voices to be discovered and shared with the world.

Building the platform presented challenges, especially in terms of fundraising. As a female entrepreneur and solo founder, raising capital can be a challenge. But Allison persevered and secured funding from impressive angels, including individuals from iconic tech companies, successful authors, and even a few publishers.

Along the way, Allison also learned about the significance of product-market fit. She found that her initial product wouldn't solve the problem, so she kept iterating until she found a fit that allowed her to scale her business.

More obstacles emerged, such as building a team and finding the right audience, but Allison never lost sight of her goal - to change the game for underrepresented voices in the publishing industry. And she did just that.

Copper Books is now a thriving platform making it easier for new and diverse voices to be heard. It's not just about publishing books - it's about building a community of readers and writers who are passionate about discovering and sharing new stories.

Listening to Allison speak was inspiring. Her journey is a reminder of the power of persistence, the importance of staying true to your vision, and the belief that anything is possible with hard work.
